ST. LOUIS -- The Missouri Valley Conference announced its men's and women's swimming and diving weekly honors on Wednesday. The men's honorees included Jay Stewart (UIC), Harrison Nolan (UIC) and Liam Hickey (UMASS). On the women's side, Olivia Herron (SIU), Kerry-Leigh Morrison (UIC), and Amara Addison (Little Rock) were recognized.
MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Jay Stewart, Fr. - Bloomington, IN
Freshman Jay Stewart (Bloomington, Ind.) delivered an impressive performance for UIC in the dual meet against SIU. Stewart captured first place in both the 50 freestyle (20.30) and 100 butterfly (48.83), showcasing his speed and versatility in the pool.
MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Harrison Nolan, SR - Riverside, Ill
Senior Harrison Nolan (Riverside, Ill.) delivered an exceptional performance for UIC in the dual meet against SIU. Nolan earned NCAA Zone Cut qualifying scores in both diving events, winning the three-meter (359.10) and placing second on the one-meter (319.28).
MEN'S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Liam Hickey, Fr. Fairfax, VA
As the Minutemen finished first over Colgate and Le Moyne at the Justin Jennings Invitational this past weekend, Liam Hickey secured the gold medal in two individual events. In the 100 backstroke he sat atop the podium with time of 51.80., before taking sixth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.90. He finished first in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:55.80, while swimming into seventh with a time of 53.06 in the 100 butterfly. Hickey helped the 400 medley relay team to a third-place finish with a time of 3:28.32 as the leadoff. He also aided the 400 freestyle relay team into fourth with a time 3:12.68 as the leadoff.
WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Olivia Herron, Sr. - Manchester, England
Herron is coming off a successful weekend in Chicagoland. Versus UIC on Friday, Herron came in first place in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, and 100-yard butterfly. Then, on Saturday in a tri-meet against Northwestern and Miami (OH), Herron came in first in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM. She was also part of a podium finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Currently, Herron sits top-16 nationally in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard IM.
WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Kerry-Leigh Morrison, Sr. - Gauteng, South Africa
Kerry-Leigh Morrison started off the season strong sweeping both diving events in a dual meet against Southern Illinois over the weekend. Morrison scored 257.78 points in the one-meter board and 282.75 in the three-meter board. Her score on the three-meter board meets the qualification standard for NCAA Zone C cuts.
WOMEN'S FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Livia Munkacsi-Nagy, Fr. - Budapest, Hungary
Freshman Amara Addison had a record-breaking weekend at the Little Rock Fall Invite, winning both the 50-yard backstroke (25.29) and 100-yard backstroke (55.14) while helping Little Rock to a second-place team finish with 710 points. Addison set new school records in both backstroke events, with each time also marking a personal best. She added another strong performance in the 100 butterfly, posting a time of 56.13 to rank ninth all-time in program history.
