Carly Schneider Named Loyola Head Women's Golf Coach

Loyola University Chicago Director of Golf Erik Hoops has announced the hiring of Carly Schneider as the program’s head women’s golf coach. Schneider, a 2014 graduate of Loyola, returns to Rogers Park following a successful playing career with the Maroon & Gold.

“We are very excited to have Carly return to the program,” Hoops said. “When I started my coaching search, Carly came across as a great fit. She has an amazing passion for golf and, more importantly, Loyola University. It will be great to have another Rambler here in the office with me while we look to build a great golf program. I have no doubt that she knows what it will take to get us there and cannot wait for her to get started with our girls.”

Schneider boasted an 82.4 stroke average in 83 career rounds during her collegiate career. The Elgin, Ill. native turned in some of her finest work during her final season with the Ramblers, posting a career-low 79.6 stroke average over 23 rounds of play. She carded a career-low round of 73 as part of an eighth-place finish (80-73=153) at the CSU Cougar Classic. Later on in the same season, Schneider recorded a 151 (74-77) as Loyola set back-to-back 18-hole program record lows en route to capturing the team title at the Braun Intercollegiate.

Following graduation, Schneider became a part of the PGA Professional Program, where she was given the opportunity to increase her education in both coaching and teaching. She has also continued to play competitively in the Illinois PGA Section.

“I couldn’t be more excited to have this opportunity,” Schneider commented. “It is such an honor to be back at Loyola. I’m really looking forward to helping our women’s team take it to the next level and develop the program moving forward. I know that we have the talent and the spirit with these young ladies to be competitive in the Missouri Valley Conference.”

Loyola returns seven letterwinners from last year’s squad, including three of its top four leaders in stroke average. Freshmen Morgan Brown and Sara Padilla will also join the Ramblers at the start of the fall season.
