This week's Missouri Valley Conference golfers of the week are Belmont's Chloe Tarkany and Illinois State's Pietro Pontiggia.
Belmont's Chloe Tarkany (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned medalist honors at the Houston Lake Invitational, by shooting a three-round 75-73-66=214. The graduate student led the Bruins to a second-place team finish at the event, which was played on par-72, 6,182-yard layout on Houston Lake Country Club in Perry, Ga. It marked her fourth career individual title (and the second this season). She ranks second on team in scoring at 74.0 and has four top-10 finishes and six top 20s. With her victory and final score, Chloe tied several program records:
- Her fourth individual title – second most by any Belmont women's golfer
- Her final round 66 is tied for the second lowest 18-hole score in program history
- Her -6 score on Monday tied for the lowest 18-hole score in relation to par
- Her 54-hole mark of 214 is tied for the second lowest 54-hole score in program history
- Her -2 final score is tied for the second lowest 54-hole score in relation to par
Using a final-round 295, the Illinois State men's golf team kept their positioning through the final day, placing fifth at the 2026 Memphis Intercollegiate: Spirited by Old Dominick. Tournament host Memphis won the team title with an 866, while Wright State (878) and Eastern Kentucky (880) chased the Tigers on the final day. Troy (883) finished a single stroke ahead of ISU's 884. Pietro Pontiggia was ISU's top individual finisher for the tournament, tying for 10th place with a three-round score of 220, including a three-over 75 in the final round. Over the course of the tournament, he had the ninth-best par-four scoring average (4.10) in the field, and in his final round he had three birdies and 11 pars for his three-over score.
