ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference announced its Runners of the Week on Monday. UIC's Daniel Chavez and Drake's Breanna Burak have been selected as the men’s and women’s honorees. 



MEN’S RUNNER: Daniel Chavez, Sr. UIC – Berwyn, IL
Senior Daniel Chavez placed fourth at the Gans Creek Classic, leading the men’s team to third place out of 26 teams. He was the top Missouri Valley finisher, helping the team beat MVC members Belmont, Illinois State, Drake, Evansville, and Northern Iowa. Chavez ran the men's 8K in 23:47, establishing a school record and posting the fastest MVC time of the season.
WOMEN’S RUNNER: Breanna Burak, Jr. Drake – Algonquin, IL
Junior Breanna Burak of Algonquin, Ill., placed 14th individually in the Black Division at the 2025 Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Mo., with a time of 21:02.0. Her performance helped the Drake team secure an 8th-place finish in their first 6K race of the season.
