Valparaiso’s Joey Yaros and Samantha Rowley have been tabbed the MVC Runners of the Week.
 
Men’s Runner of the Week: Joey Yaros, Valparaiso
Sophomore Joey Yaros placed 18th of 212 in in a highly competitive field in the men’s 8K on Friday with a new personal-best time of 24:20.6 that ranks third in program history. The top four times in the program record book have now all come during the Walker Era as Yaros is behind only Joseph Scheele (2024) and Karson Hollander (2025) and just ahead of Evan Walda (2023).
 
Women’s Runner of the Week: Samantha Rowley, Valparaiso
Sophomore Samantha Rowley led the way for the Beacons in the women’s 6K race on Friday at the Roy Griak Invite, hosted by the University of Minnesota, improving her personal best from last season with a time of 20:52.2 that now ranks second in program history. Rowley, who finished 26th of 240 in the competitive race, turned in the fastest 6K by a Valpo woman since Laura Rolf’s 2006 record of 20:45.35.
