MVC Cross Country Wraps Up Season at NCAA Regionals

The Missouri Valley Conference concluded its 2025 cross country season with 11 men's and women's programs competing across four NCAA Regional sites. 

Here's a recap highlighting the top MVC performances at each regional:

MIDWEST REGIONAL (Stillwater, Oklahoma)
MVC Teams: Bradley, Illinois State, UNI, Drake, UIC
Women's Race: Among MVC teams, Bradley finished 9th in the team standings with 247 points, while Illinois State placed 17th (444 points) and Drake took 19th (523 points).  Bradley's Trixie Wraith led the MVC individuals with her 21st-place showing (20:56.8).
Men's Race:  Among MVC schools, Bradley tied for 9th place (247 points), Illinois State finished 17th (444 points), UIC placed 12th (372 points), and Drake took 19th (523 points).  Bradley's Jayde Rosslee was 12 on the individual leaderboard to lead all MVC runners (30:30.6).

GREAT LAKES REGIONAL (Evansville, Indiana)
MVC Teams: Indiana State, Valparaiso, Evansville
Women's Race: Indiana State placed 7th in the team standings with 281 points. Indiana State's Brittney Burak was the top MVC finisher individually, placing 8th overall in 21:01.43, earning All-Great Lakes Region honors. Teammate Hadley Gradolf finished 11th in 21:04.99.
Men's Race: Indiana State finished 9th with 570 points. Evansville junior Samuel Lea broke his second school record of the 2025 season on Friday morning, finishing 49th overall in the men's 10k with a record-breaking time of 31:33.72. Lea beat the previous record by 38 seconds.

SOUTHEAST REGIONAL (Earlysville, Virginia)
MVC Team: Murray State
Women's Race: Murray State finished 19th in the team standings with 607 points. Murray State's Liz Smith was the top Racer finisher, placing 76th in 21:13.1.
Men's Race: Murray State placed 27th with 831 points. Dylan Ellis led Murray State's men, finishing 128th in 32:25.1.

SOUTH REGIONAL (Huntsville, Alabama)
MVC Team: Belmont
Women's Race:  The Belmont women's cross country team closed out their 2025 season with a slew of personal bests at the NCAA South Regional meet on Friday morning at John Hunt Cross Country Running Park. Sophie Nicholls led the way for Belmont, finishing 67th with a career-best time of 21:07.23. 
Men's Race: The Belmont men's cross country team wrapped up their 2025 season with a 14th-place finish. The Bruins placed four runners in the top 100, finishing with 396 points. Leading the way for Belmont was Andrew Hammel, who placed 41st with a personal best time of 30:47.21. He beat out Nick Mota, who finished first for Belmont at last year's regional competition, by nearly 30 seconds.
