Nashville– Murray State won its first Missouri Valley Conference women’s tennis championship title and finished the regular season with a 17-5 mark after beating No. 2 seed Illinois State, 4-1, in Sunday’s (April 28) match. The Racers did not lose to an MVC opponent this season as they swept both the regular-season (8-0) and tournament championship titles. The Racers’ doubles pairing of Emma Honore and Natalie Slezakova defeated ISU’s Lana Caulovic and Tijana Zlatanovic (Flight 1, 6-4) to win the doubles point. Valeria Chaikovskaia closed out the match against Tijana Zlatanovic (Flight 1, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2). Murray State earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
