2023 MVC Women's Tennis Championship Recap Day 2

NORMAL, ILLINOIS – The Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Championship is set as tournament-host, Illinois State, and Drake will continue their run for the MVC trophy. 

Illinois State 4, Murray State 0  – Results
The pleasant weather on Friday led to blustery and cold conditions on Saturday, forcing the action at the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Championships inside to the Evergreen Racquet Club. In the first of two semifinal matches, top-seeded Illinois State rolled to a 4-0 win over No. 5 seed Murray State to advance to Sunday's championship game. The sweep was the second of the year for the Redbirds over the Racers and set up tomorrow's championship match against No. 2 seed Drake, who advanced to the title match with a 4-2 win over Belmont in the other semifinal. The championship match will be a replay of last year's title match.

Drake 4, Belmont 2– Results
Drake advances to the MVC Championship after a hard-earned win against the third ranked Belmont Bruins. The Bulldog’s win is highlighted by a singles win by Mille Haagensen in the No. 2 Singles spot that ended up going to a tie breaker in which she won (6-1). In the No. 4 Singles, Darinka Stepan won (6-2, 6-4). Oriana Parkins-Godwin won in her No.5 Singles slot after another tiebreaker. Rounding out the Bulldogs was Rebecca Ehn with her win in the No. 6 Singles.
