Missouri State will serve as host for the 2012 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship for the third time in school history, from May 22-26. The 2012 event will take place at Hammons Field, a 8,000-seat, natural grass stadium, which also serves as the home of the St. Louis Cardinals AA affiliate, the Springfield Cardinals.
For the third consecutive season, the 2012 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship will welcome all eight league members to compete for the Valley's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. This year's format will divide the eight teams into two pods based on regular-season finish (Seeds 1, 4, 5 and 8; Seeds 2, 3, 6 and 7). Each four-team bracket will be a double-elimination format, with the winners squaring off in a one-game championship on Saturday evening.
Games are played at 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each of the first three days, two "if necessary" games at 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, with the championship game airing on Fox Sports Midwest at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
All games are only on ESPN3 and will not be on Valley Live. Baseball Championship Central has direct links to watch each game and you shouldn't need a login or password to watch. Also, for those with iPhones, the games can be seen via the WatchESPN app as well (works with iPhones, iPads, etc.)
