This week's Missouri Valley Conference golfers of the week include Kayla Sayyalinh of Southern Illinois and Sam Johnson of Drake.




In women's golf, Southern Illinois and Illinois State competed int he 2026 Advance Golf Partners Collegiate in Palm City, Fla. Nationally ranked Virginia Tech (38th) ran away with the tournament title with a 31-stroke win with a three-round score of 868. SIU junior Kayla Sayyalinh finished ninth on the individual leaderboard in a strong field with a three-round 79-71-71=221.

In men's golf, Drake's Sam Johnson had the best finish for Drake placing solo second in the individual medalist race at the Compadres Collegiate. Johnson started off his tournament with a 3-over, 75 but then finished under par the next two rounds shooting 70 and 69 for his total score of 2-under, 214. Johnson carded the third-most birdies in the field with 13 and had the second-best scoring average on the par 5's at 4.58.
