SPRINGFIELD, MO - The second annual 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Esports Championship was hosted by Missouri State with the help of the National Esports Collegiate Conferences (NECC) on April 12th. Teams competed over four titles Overwatch 2, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Valorant and Rocket League.
Illinois State (Redbird Esports) claimed the titles in Valorant and Rocket League.
Missouri State claimed the crowns in Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Overwatch 2.
In Rocket League, the Redbirds defended their MVC title, beginning with a 4-0 victory over Missouri State in UB Finals advancing to the championship where claimed the title at a score of 4-1 over the Bears. Illinois State defeated Bradley in the first semifinal match 4-0, while Missouri State defeated Valparaiso 4-0 in the second semifinal match to tee up the final rounds. Bradley earned fourth place overall and Valparaiso earned third in the bracket.
The Redbirds claimed the Valorant Title over Bradley 2-1 in the final rounds after defeating Indiana State in the semifinals 2-0. Bradley defeated Belmont 2-1 to advance to the championship rounds where the Braves earned runner-up honors.
For the Super Smash Bros title, the Bears defeated Illinois State in the UB Final round 2-0 and championship round of the bracket at a score of 2-1. The Bears defeated Evansville 2-0 in the second semi-final and Illinois State defeated Valparaiso 2-0 in the first semi-final match.
In the Overwatch 2 title, the Bears defeated Bradley 3-0 in the semi-finals to face Valparaiso in the UB Finals. To get to the finals, Missouri State defeated Valparaiso to claim the title 4-2. The Beacons earned runner-up honors in the competition after defeating Southern Illinois in the second semi-finals match. Bradley and Southern Illinois earned third and fourth place in the bracket respectively.
