SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Claire Parsons, Junior, Indiana State - Terre Haute, Ind.
Claire Parsons put together one of her best performances of the season this past weekend in leading the Sycamores against both Vanderbilt and Illinois. Parsons took the wins in the 200-, 500-, and 1000-yard Freestyles in leading Indiana State past the Commodores - just the second time in program history the Sycamores have topped an SEC program. Parsons opened the meet winning the 500-yard Freestyle in 4:55.70, taking the title by four full seconds over Illinois’ Liv Dorshorst in recording the fastest time in the Valley this season. She followed up on the final day of the meet going 10:04.28 to win the 1000-yard Freestyle by 13 seconds over teammate Grace Cummings (10:17.37), before claiming the title in the 200-yard Freestyle in 1:51.88. Parsons’ times came with the Sycamores still not having worn their performance suits yet this season as the junior continues to build momentum this year. She added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard Backstroke.
