St. Louis – The Missouri Valley Conference names track and field athletes of the week honors. This week’s athletes of the week are Isaiah Trousil of Northern Iowa, Brooke Mullins of Drake, Rachel Hagans of Murray St., and Carter Morton of Northern Iowa.
Track Athlete
Isaiah Trousil, RS Sr. UNI, West Burlington, IA
Isaiah Trousil, a four-time Drake Relays high school champion at West Burlington High School, took home first place in the men's 100-meter dash on Saturday with a winning time of 10.14 seconds. The UNI redshirt senior entered the event as the top-seed after running a 10.30 second mark in Friday's preliminary heats at Drake Relays. Trousil becomes the second Panther to win the men's 100-meters on the Blue Oval, joining Brandon Carnes in 2016 and 2017. He finished second in the 100-meters last year and won the 200-meters. Leads the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) in the 100 meter dash (10.14) and 200 meter dash (20.92) in the men’s division. Trousil currently ranks 12th in the West Region, and 25th in the Nation in the 100m.

Jaylin Holmes, Illinois St. - clocked a 51.92 in the 400m hurdles at the Drake Relays, now sitting first in the Valley.
Track Athlete
Brooke Mullins, Jr. Drake, Queensland, Australia
Brooke Mullins broke the Drake’s women’s 3000m steeplechase record with a time of 10:13.94 to claim a Drake Relays champion’s flag. Mullins out ran a field of 33 including competition from Nebraska, Tulane, Creighton, Wichita State, Iowa and Marquette. The junior became the first Drake women’s athlete to win an event at the Drake Relays since Gina DeWitt in 1995. Mullins is now ranked 28th in the West Region and first in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Miracle Berry, SIU- Aided in the SIU 4x400 victory in the Penn Relays with a total time of 3:38.48.
Field Athlete
Rachel Hagans, R-Sr. Murray State, Tampa, Fla.
Hagans won the long jump in the 2023 Jim Green Invitational at Kentucky with a 6.45m jump.
Out jumping a field of 16, Hagans posted her a new season best from her previous of 6.43m, alongside winning by .45m or almost a full two inches from the next competitor. Her performance puts her fist in the MVC, third in the Southeast region, 8th in the East Region, and 12th nationally.

Makenna Wilson, UNI - Set a new school record in the Women's Hammer with a toss of 64.64m, winning the Drake Relays, and sitting 19th in the Nation.
Field Athlete
Carter Morton, So. UNI, Jefferson, IA
Carter Morton set a new career-high score with 7,454 points to claim the decathlon title at the Drake Relays on Thursday afternoon. The first Panther to win the decathlon at the Blue Oval since Daniel Gooris in 2013, Morton's score cracks the top-four all-time in school history. Morton set new career-best marks in four events, including first place finishes in the high jump (2.11 meters), long jump (7.18 meters), 400-meter dash (49.55 seconds) and discus throw (36.22 meters). Morton, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) runner up in the decathlon, finished last year's competition at Drake Stadium in fourth place with 6,697 points. After his title in the men’s decathlon, Morton competed in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 14.53 meters to finish in sixth place. He now leads the Missouri Valley Conference in the decathlon (7,454) after his career-best performance this weekend, along with matching Thompson and Plab for first place in the high jump, and third in the triple jump. Morton sits 11th in the West Qualifying Region and 14th in the Nation in the Decathlon.

Anthony Barmes, Drake - Finished third in the Drake Relays setting the best finish by a Drake thrower in the meet with a 69.56m toss.
