Valley Announces 2023 Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete Teams

ST. LOUIS - Western Michigan's Dylan Sing has been named the MVC Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines a group of 23 student-athletes named to the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer scholar-athlete first and second teams, announced by the league office today. 

With a 3.99 grade point average in Integrated Supply Management, Sing is a first-time selection on the scholar-athlete first team and Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  Sing was recently named the MVC Player of the Year for his efforts on the field.   

Missouri State boasted a league-high three members on the first team, while Bowling Green, Northern Illinois and Western Michigan each had two honorees.  Belmont, Bradley and UIC each had one first-team selection. 

The 23 member first and second teams features student-athletes from six different countries, representing England, Germany, Mexico, Norway, Spain and the United States. 

Among the 23 honorees, one boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA, while 14 honorees have a GPA of 3.80+.

The Valley's scholar-athlete teams are voted on by the league's soccer sports information directors.

The criteria for the All-MVC honor parallels the CSC (College Sports Communicators) standards for Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.00 scale). Also, students must have participated in at least 75 percent of the season matches. Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.
