MVC Announces Weekly Swimming & Diving Honors (Dec. 21)

This week's Missouri Valley Conference swimmer of the week is Olivia Chambers e of UNI, the diver of the week is Grace Kelsheimer of Marshall, and the freshman of the week is Haley Halsall of Indiana State.
 
Swimmer:
 
Olivia Chambers, So., UNI
Chambers became UNI's first-ever para-swimming national champion over the weekend as she was named the Swimmer of the Meet with gold medal finishes in the 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley in career-best times at the U.S. Paralympic National Championships in Charlotte. She also took home third place in the 100m butterfly, as well as a fourth-place finish in the 100m backstroke and fifth in the 50m freestyle. Chambers faced off against a highly talented field that included multiple members of the U.S. Paralympic Team, including four-time Paralympic champion McKenzie Coan and five-time Paralympic medalist Elizabeth Marks.
 
Diver:
 
Grace Kelsheimer, So., Marshall
Kelsheimer finished 2nd in both 1m and 3m boards. She recorded lifetime bests in 3m event with a 262.95 and 237.53 on 1m board.
 
Freshman:
 
Haley Halsall, Fr., Indiana State,  
Haley Halsall picked up the win in the 200-yard Butterfly and added the Sycamores’ top finish in the 500-yard Freestyle as the freshman continued to showcase her versatility in the pool this past weekend at North Florida. The Woodstock, Illinois native also added a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard IM to wrap up her weekend. Halsall opened her competition with the 200-yard Fly win topping the field by nearly a full second in 2:06.99. She followed up finishing second in the pool in the 500-yard Freestyle in 5:09.43. The freshman wrapped up her weekend finishing fourth overall in the 200 IM in 2:14.88.
