College Baseball Foundation Release
LUBBOCK, Texas -- The College Baseball Foundation has narrowed the list of players to 15 semifinalists for its Pitcher of the Year Award, and Missouri State junior southpaw Buddy Baumann is among that elite group.
Baumann is 9-1 this season with a 2.95 ERA. He leads the Missouri Valley Conference in victories and strikeouts (87), while sitting second in opponent average (.208) and fifth in ERA over 73.1 innings pitched.
The Rogersville, Mo., native is a two-time recipient of the MVC’s Pitcher of the Week award this year, and the Bears are 10-1 in his 11 starts. According to the NCAA statistics (through May 10) Baumann ranks eighth nationally in wins, 25th in hits allowed per nine innings, 27th in both strikeouts per nine innings and total strikeouts and 45th in ERA.
