The top-seeded UIC Flames won their first Missouri Valley Conference baseball tournament title on Sunday, topping the No. 4-seeded Southern Illinois Salukis, 7-2.
It marked the second-straight year, and 22nd time in league history, that the No. 1 seed had won the tournament championship. With the victory, the Flames earned The Valley’s automatic bid into the 2026 NCAA Tournament, drawing the No. 2 overall national seed Georgia Tech in the opening round of the Atlanta Regional.
The Flames and the Yellow Jackets will face off on Friday, May 29, at 11 a.m. CT on the ACC Network. The Citadel and Oklahoma join UIC in the Atlanta Regional and will play each other at 4 p.m. CT on Friday.
UIC’s postseason appearance marks the seventh in school history, and first since 2019 when it won the Horizon League Championship.
