MVC Announces Weekly Golf Honors -- 10.8.2026

This week's Missouri Valley Conference golfers of the week include Jake Weissenburger of Drake; Carter Stevenson of Bradley; and Peyton Coburn of Bradley.  Stevenson and Weissenburger each were individual medalists earlier this week, while Coburn finished runner-up in Bradley's event.

Carter Stevenson (Marquette Heights, Ill.) earned his first career individual title at the Coyote Creek Classic, hosted by Bradley, in Bartonville, Ill. The senior from Marquette Heights, Ill., carded a four-under-par 209 to earn medalist honors at Bradley Men's Golf's first home tournament since the Spring of 2016. Stevenson tied his career-low 66 for the third time this season in round one and, while battling ICC's Connor Watson for the title, carded a 68 with eight birdies in the final round to secure his first career win. Stevenson led Bradley to its second consecutive team title of the season, as the team placed first out of six teams at 863 (278-298-287).

Jake Weissenburger and the Drake men's golf team took home two trophies at the Kemper Lakes Intercollegiate. Weissenburger won his first career medalist honor finishing the tournament at -5 with a total score of 211 (65-72-74). The Bulldogs picked up their first team title since they shared honors at the 2021 Zach Johnson Invitational, and it was their first solo team title since the 2020 Zach Johnson Invitational. The Bulldogs (288-296-302=886, +22) bested runner-up South Dakota by eight strokes. Weissenburger started off his tournament with a bang and fired a 7-under, 65 in his opening round. That tied his career-low 18-hole score and was the lowest round of all 78 players in the field. Weissenburger was the only player in the field to finish under par and ranked second on Par 4's (E), second on Par 5's (-5), fourth on Par 3's (E) and tallied the most birdies in the field with 14. Weissenburger is the first Bulldog to win tournament medalist honors since Lucas Scherf at the Loyola (Md.) Intercollegiate in 2023.

Peyton Coburn (Tulsa, Okla.) earned runner-up medalist honors for the second time at the Coyote Creek Classic, hosted by Bradley, in Bartonville, Ill. The junior from Tulsa, Okla., finished second with a 10-over-par 226 after carding back-to-back rounds of 74 to surge up the leaderboard on the final day. The finish is Coburn's first top-10 of the season and is her second finish in the top 20 in as many weeks after placing 13th at last week's Diane Thomason Invitational. Coburn led Bradley to a tie for the team title with Idaho State as the Braves scored 929 (313-305-311). The title is Bradley's first under head coach Kara Blair and is its third Coyote Creek Classic title in six tournaments.
