KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- United Soccer Coaches released the defenders on its NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Watch List on Tuesday.

A trio of Missouri Valley Conference soccer student-athletes are mentioned in the prestigious preseason watch list issued by the organization. Drake's Eskil Gjerde and Western Michigan's Christian Shannon are two of 22 student-athletes on the men's list, while Indiana State's Brooklyn Woods is one 29 mentioned on the women's side.

The lists are compiled and released by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season later this month. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and All-Region players from 2024 who are scheduled to return for the 2025 season.

The goalkeeper watch list was announced on August 1, with midfielders slated for August 8 and forwards on August 12.
