MVC Men's Soccer Weekly Notebook (Sept. 2)

ST. LOUIS -- The Missouri Valley Conference announced its men's soccer weekly awards on Tuesday. Bowling Green's Trace Terry has been tabbed the MVC Player of the Week and Bradley's Drew Berry is the league's Defensive Player of the Week.

Conference News & Notes
  • Collectively, men’s soccer programs recorded seven wins on the week, including four victories against Top 150 teams a season ago.
  • For the first time ever, Belmont is 3-0-0, outscoring its opponents, 5-1, through its first three contests.
  • Bowling Green’s Enzo Gil leads the MVC in total saves (26) and save percentage (.897) heading into the third week of the season. Gil is tied for first nationally in total saves in 2025.
  • Bradley goalkeeper Drew Berry tallied a season-high 11 saves in the Braves’ win over Milwaukee. The 11 stops are tied for the most in a single match in Division I this season.
  • Drake’s Preston Kipnusu helped the Bulldogs remain undefeated with a pair of goals on the week. The Bulldogs are currently one of three unbeaten Valley teams.
  • Three of Evansville’s four matches this season have resulted in a draw, most recently, against Memphis. A trio of Purple Aces each have a goal, while Tancredi Fadda leads the group with 10 shots.
  • UIC remained undefeated with a 3-2 win over Northwestern on Monday night. The Flames are ranked near the top nationally in several categories, including scoring offense, points and assists.
  • Northern Illinois scored four first-half goals to cruise past Western Illinois, 5-0, on Thursday behind goals from four different Huskies. The five goals marks the most against a Division I opponent since notching five against Bowling Green during the 2021 campaign.
  • Western Michigan earned its first win of the year with a 2-1 victory over New Hampshire on Monday. The Broncos’ Roni Sylejmani notched the game-winner in the 74th minute.
