PLAYER OF THE WEEK: MAYA MCDERMOTT, UNI

UNI’s Maya McDermott carried the Panthers to their first-ever win over a top-10 program, as UNI powered past then-No. 8 Iowa State, 87-75, on Wednesday. The senior dropped a career-high 37 points on a career-high 14 made field goals. She became just the third player in the Valley, and is one of four, since 2002-03 to score 35-plus against a top-25 opponent and the only player to do it in a win. Her 37-point performance marked her third 30-plus outing of her career. McDermott also added five rebounds, four assists, and three steals with just a single turnover in 35 minutes of action. The victory over the Cyclones marked the first win over a top-10 opponent by UNI and first by a Valley program during the regular season since the 2000-01 season.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: SARAH LINTHACUM, MISSOURI STATE

Missouri State’s Sarah Linthacum averaged 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game in a pair of outings for the Lady Bears last week. In Missouri State’s setback to UT Martin, Linthacum dropped a career-high 20 points on 69% shooting from the floor, with nine boards. She followed that performance with 11 points, seven rebounds and a career-high six assists in a 23-point win over Saint Louis on Saturday.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: CAMRYN RUNNER, EVANSVILLE

For the second time this season, Camryn Runner is being recognized as the MVC Freshman of the Week. Runner started the week with a 30-point outpouring at Lindenwood, shooting 50% from the floor and 57% from 3-point territory. She followed that performance with 18 points against Lipscomb, recording her fifth-straight double-digit scoring performance. She went 13-of-16 from the charity stripe last week and ranks fourth nationally in free throws made and attemped this season.
