The NCAA National Office has announced Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) data for student-athletes who entered Division I institutions in 2017. The Missouri Valley Conference exceled in both academic student-athlete success measures. MVC student-athletes posted a 91 percent GSR and a 71 percent FGR. Both figures are above the national Division I average.
MVC Men’s Basketball posted a 97percent GSR, which is the third highest rate among all Division I leagues and the fourth highest FGR, with a 61 percent. MVC Women’s Basketball posted rates of 92 percent and 61 percent in GSR and FGR respectively. Overall, the MVC had 75 teams post a perfect 100 GSR, a new league record (three more than last year's established record of 72). That figure includes all nine (9) MVC women's tennis programs -- marking the fifth-straight year that all teams notched a perfect 100 GSR.
Valparaiso led the way for MVC institutions with 10 of its MVC-sport programs reporting a perfect 100 GSR. Evansville had 9; Bradley, 8; and three other league schools (Belmont, Drake, and UNI) are at seven. Three schools -- Belmont, Bradley, and Evansville -- tied for the league leadership in overall graduation success rate of 97 percent -- that ties for 24th best nationally.
