Newcomer of the Week: Addison Martin, Illinois State

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: ANNA MILLER, DRAKE
6-3 | Sr. | Forward | Rochester, Minn.
Senior forward Anna Miller had a sensational opening week for the preseason favorite Bulldogs. The Rochester, Minn. native averaged 22.5 points, 12.0 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks in the Bulldogs’ wins over North Dakota State and Saint Louis. Miller started the year with a 22-point, 13-rebound, 6-block outing at Bison. Anna’s six rejections at NDSU gave her 219 for her career, making her the all-time leader in blocked shots in Drake women’s basketball history. Miller followed that with another 24 points and 11 boards in the Bulldogs’ home opener against Saint Louis. Her 24 points were just one shy of tying her career best.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: ADDISON MARTIN, ILLINOIS STATE
6-1 | R-Jr. | Forward | Shreveport, La.

Addison Martin recorded a double-double in her Redbird debut as Illinois State took down Big Ten foe Northwestern, 81-77, on the road to begin the 2024-25 campaign. It was the first ‘Power’ win by a Valley team this season and the first for Illinois State since 2022. Martin finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, scoring eight of her points in the second half. Martin’s rebounding performance tied her collegiate career-high. She shot 56% from the floor and was just the second Redbird since 2021 to put up a double-double in a season opener.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: CAMRYN RUNNER, EVANSVILLE
5-8 | Fr. | Guard | Cicero, Ind.

In her first week of collegiate basketball, rookie Camryn Runner made a splash for the Evansville Purple Aces, putting up back-to-back double-figure performances. Runner averaged 17.5 points in 34 minutes of action per contest. Runner scored 18 points in her collegiate debut and followed that up with 17 in a win over Wright State. She went 15-of-20 from the charity striple, as her 15 made free throws rank 13th across Division I. She added 11 rebounds, six assists, four steals and a trio of blocks on the week.
