2023 MVC Softball Championship Set

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The field for the 2023 Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship is set for next week's event in Carbondale, Ill. hosted by Southern Illinois.

Northern Iowa won the Regular-Season Championship and the No. 1 Seed for the MVC Championship having gone 26-1 against Valley opponents.  This is the 5th-time in school history that the Panthers earned the No. 1 Seed.  UNI will not play until the quarterfinals at 10:00 a.m. (CT) on Thursday, May 11.  Missouri State took the tournament's No. 2 Seed and will have to wait to see who their opponent is, as their first game will be the third quarterfinals on Thursday, May 11 at 4:00 p.m. (CT).

No. 8 Drake faces No. 9 Evansville in the first game of the Championship on Wednesday, May 10 at 10:00 a.m. (CT) followed by No. 5 Indiana State versus No. 12 Valparaiso that same day at 1:00 p.m. (CT). Following at 4:00 p.m., No.7 Belmont and No.10 Bradley will compete. Rounding out the first day of the MVC Softball Tournament will be host #6 Southern Illinois against #11 UIC at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 10.  

The winner of No.8 Drake and No.9 Evansville will compete against No.1 UNI on Thursday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m. (CT). No.4 Murray State will play the winner of Indiana State and Valparaiso on Thursday, May 11 at 1:00 p.m. (CT). No. 2 Missouri State will play against the winner of No. 7 Belmont and No. 10 Bradley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11. The winner of No. 6 Southern Illinois and No. 11 UIC will advance to play No. 3 Illinois State at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11.
