The Missouri Valley Conference has postponed the Illinois State-Valparaiso women's basketball series (Jan. 1-2) due to positive COVID-19 test results among Valparaiso's Tier I personnel, which consists of student-athletes, coaches, managers and staff. The Conference will announce make-up dates for the series/games at a later date.
Illinois State, however, will now face UNI on Jan. 1-2 at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and both games will be played at 2 p.m. CT. UNI was originally scheduled to play Missouri State this weekend, but positive test results within MSU's Tier I personnel has forced the postponement of the UNI-MSU series. ISU and UNI were originally scheduled to face one another on Jan. 15-16 in Cedar Falls.
MVC athletically-related activities will take place only to the extent permitted by local environments and applicable national, state, local and institutional guidelines in order to safeguard the health and safety of participants, staff and fans. Schedule updates throughout the season will be posted on mvc-sports.com.
With the rescheduling of the series, the Conference has chosen the Friday, Jan. 1, match-up between UNI and Illinois State as one of its MVC-selected productions for digital distribution via the ESPN App with network designation (ESPN+ or ESPN3) to be determined. Brad Wells (play-by-play) and Laura Leonard (analyst) will call the action.
