PEORIA, Ill. – Second-seeded SIUE scored two goals in the final 12 minutes to overcome a 1-0 deficit and defeat host and No. 6 Bradley, 2-1, in the second semifinal of the MVC Men's Soccer Championship. The Cougars advance to the title match for the third time since joining the league as an affiliate member. SIUE will take on top-seeded Missouri State in Sunday's title match.
Trailing 1-0 in the 78th minute, the Cougars were awarded a penalty kick after Travis Hoguet was brought down in the penalty area. Justin Bilyeu buried the kick from the spot for his second goal of the year to even the score.
Jabari Danzy notched the game-winner a little more than six minutes later when he connected on a cross from Andrew Kendall-Moullin.
Bradley went on top 1-0 thanks to a goal from Cody Lofgren in the 22nd minute. Lofgren scored on a header from eight yards away after a pass from Jason Lesch.
SIUE limited Bradley to just one goal on seven shots, while the Cougars reeled off a season-high 27 shots in the win.
SIUE now faces top-seeded Missouri State for the second time in just over two weeks. The teams played to a 1-1 double overtime tie Nov. 1 at Korte Stadium. Korn said his team will be ready for Sunday's rematch with the Bears.
