Missouri State junior Michael Breshears held off a hard-charging Jordan Fife of Indiana State to win the men's individual title in an 8k course-record time of 24:12.32. Meanwhile, Wichita State senior Desiraye Osburn ran away from the field in the women's 5k to take home individual champion honors in a course-best time of 16:24.08.

Breshears and Osburn took home MVC Athlete of the Year honors for winning their respective races. Indiana State men's coach John McNichols and Wichita State women's coach Randy Hasenbank captured MVC Coach of the Year honors by a vote of the league's coaches.
