SPRINGFIELD, MO – Host and fifth-seeded Missouri State battled fourth-seeded Central Arkansas to a 1-1 double overtime draw in Wednesday's second quarterfinal match at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium in Springfield, Mo., but the MSU Bears advanced to the semifinals of the MVC Men's Soccer Championship on Friday after taking out the UCA Bears in penalty kicks, 5-4.

Central Arkansas found the back of the net first early in the first half as senior Wes Carson scored his sixth goal of the season in the seventh minute (7:47) on an assist from William Woody. 

Missouri State provided the equalizer midway through the first half as Jake Buckle scored his second goal of the season thanks to assists from Emmerich Hoegg and Jake Laird.

After played a scoreless second half and a pair of overtime periods the match went to penalty kicks.

Central Arkansas was awarded the first opportunity in the first round of the shootout. Both UCA’s Alejandro Moquete and MSU’s Jack Griffin would convert their shots to keep the shootout tied at one-all going to into the second round.

Priestley would make his biggest and only save of the shootout in the second round, as Central Arkansas’ Pepe San Roman fired his shot to the far side of the goal and Priestley deflected it to keep it out of the net.

James Routledge and Buckle would convert the next two, before Hoegg missed wide right, to send the shootout into an extra round. UCA’s Joey Kampmann forced his shot high over the crossbar, setting up the final shot for Mikey Lightbourne. Lightbourne netted the final penalty kick to keep MSU’s tournament run going.

The host Bears advance to take on top-seeded and nationally ranked Loyola on Friday in the second semifinal of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship at 6:00 PM. The Bears and Ramblers tangled back on October 22 in Chicago, with Loyola claiming a 2-0 win.

Missouri State will be making the school's 16th appearance in the MVC semifinals (6-7-2).

Central Arkansas ends its season at 7-7-3.
