EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Third-seeded Drake advances to the title match of the MVC Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday after taking out No. 2 Bradley, 1-0, in Friday's first semifinal match at Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. A goal by Drake freshman Nic Jaimes in the 10th minute was the difference in the match.

The Bulldogs capitalized on a free kick early in the match (9:35), as junior Mueng Sunday used a quick restart to catch the Braves off guard, sending the ball wide right of the box where an unmarked James was able to tap it in from close range past Bradley goalkeeper Logan Ketterer.

The goal by Jaimes was his fourth of the season, as he scored just two goals regular-season action, but has scored in back-to-back matches in the Bulldogs' two matches at the MVC Championship.

Bradley turned up the heat in the final 35 minutes of the first half, putting pressure on the Drake defense while keeping the ball in the Braves' offensive third to finish out the half. The Braves out-shot the Bulldogs in the first half, 4-2, with Bradley's best scoring opportunity coming at the 33:33 mark off the foot of freshman Frank Bak. Drake junior goalkeeper Darrin MacLeod had to make his only save of the match on that play, and held the Braves scoreless for the rest of the match.

Drake advances to take on the winner of the No. 1 SIUE/No. 5 Loyola match on Sunday afternoon in the title match of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship at 1:00 PM. The Bulldogs have two previous title match appearances (1994 and 2009), winning the championship in 2009 over Evansville.

Bradley ends its season at 7-10-1.
