Wichita State earned its fifth-straight MVC men's golf championship with an 18-stroke victory at the 2012 State Farm MVC Men's Golf Championship, played at the par-71, 6,731-yard layout at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
Wichita State has been first or second in the final MVC team standings every season since 1996 and have won a league best 17 men's golf titles. The Shockers fired a three-round total of 288-293-296--877 to outdistance second-place Missouri State's 300-299-296--895.
All five WSU student-athletes earned all-conference honors, including medalist Hunter Sparks, who edged Evansville's Michael Luo by one stroke for the first-place award. Sparks fired a 72-72-73--217, while Luo posted a three-round 72-70-76--218.
The 2012 MVC all-conference team (top six finishers, plus regular-season H-T-H rankings), and specialty award winners were announced at the conclusion of Tuesday's final round.

In the vision of the Carey family and Perry Maxwell, Prairie Dunes has become a renowned course and has played home to several major events including: U.S Women’s Amateur, Curtis Cup Match, U.S. Mid- Amateur, U.S. Women’s Open and also hosted the 2006 U.S. Senior Open. Prairie Dunes was honored in 2005 by Golf Digest as being named one of America’s greatest Golf Courses.
