Omaha, Neb. - Jennifer Migan of Indiana State captured her second-consecutive double championship and the Drake Bulldogs took four individual championships back to Des Moines, Iowa, at the 2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Individual Championship at the Koch Tennis Center during Sunday’s placement finals.

Migan swept three singles matches in the No. 1 singles flight, culminating with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Stephanie Dalmacio of Wichita State. Earlier in the day, she teamed with Joanne Schickerling to knock off Dalmacio and Anna Egorova, 9-7, to claim their second doubles championship in as many seasons.

It was the Bulldogs grabbing the most hardware, taking championships in four singles flights.

Irina Kalashnikova rallied from a set down to defeat Illinois State’s Julia Zubkova, 6-2, in the third while Eveline Rusdianto took a straight-set decision from UNI’s Sampada Kanade, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 3.  Allison Wilkie claimed title number three at No. 5 singles. Wilkie earned a break in each set to stop Jeanelle Stines of Illinois State.  At No. 7, Daria Zawislak won the all-Drake contest, 6-1, 6-2, over Crista Gilmore.

Olga Elkin of Wichita State was best of the tournament at No. 4 singles as she cruised to a 6-3, 6-4, win over Southern Illinois’ Jessica Flannery in the title tilt.

Torrie Browning and Jackie Richey took home the Shockers’ second crown at No. 2 doubles with a dominating, 8-3, win over Drake’s Kari Sloboth and Allison Wilkie.

Southern Illinois and UNI each claimed a title. SIU’s Amanda Taillefer outlasted UNI’s Mariana Muraca over three sets for the No. 6 singles championship and UNI’s No. 3 doubles tandem of Meghana Paritala and Taynara Moraes breezed through SIU’s Andrea Courtney and Taillefer, 8-2.
