Shelby Hild rejoined the Missouri Valley Conference staff as an assistant commissioner for communications in April 2024.
 
In this role, she is responsible for the league’s communications efforts in the sports of volleyball, men’s soccer, cross country, women’s basketball and baseball. Hild is heavily involved in the execution of select championships for the Valley, including serving as the tournament director for the 2025 Credit Union 1 MVC Women's Basketball Tournament. She is also the staff liaison for men's soccer across the Conference.
 
Hild comes to the Valley after most recently serving as the director of athletics communications at Baylor University where she spent two seasons overseeing the communications efforts for the three-time national champion women’s basketball program, as well as the women’s tennis team. Her responsibilities included facilitating interviews between the media and student-athletes and coaches, social media strategy and historical archiving. She also served as the secondary sport program administrator for Baylor volleyball and had oversight of the development of the athletics communications' student intern program.
 
Hild joined the Baylor staff after a 14-month stint at Texas A&M where she led the communication efforts for the Aggie volleyball and softball programs. She arrived in Aggieland after a three year stay at Illinois State serving as an assistant director of athletic communications for volleyball, softball and swimming and diving. During her time in Normal, Hild increased the softball Twitter account by 104% and the volleyball Twitter account by 93%. She enhanced the Redbird softball program’s relationship with Team IMPACT, a national nonprofit that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with collegiate athletic teams, through special events and social media content.
 
Prior to her time in the prairie state, Hild spent a year at Kansas City, where she started as the assistant director of strategic communications and was promoted to director of strategic communications in August 2017. She served as the primary contact for men’s basketball, volleyball, cross country, track and field and men’s soccer. Kansas City was a co-host of the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship, where Hild worked closely with the NCAA's media relations staff throughout the event.
 
Hild’s previous stops include Missouri State as a graduate assistant, where she directed the day-to-day communications efforts for men’s soccer, women’s soccer, cross country and track & field, as well as the Missouri Valley Conference as a media relations assistant.
 
A native of Pekin, Illinois, Hild earned her bachelor’s degree from the Rawlings Sport Business Management program at Maryville University in St. Louis in 2015 and she earned the John E. Simon School of Business award prior to graduation. In the spring of 2022, she was presented by the Rawlings Sport Business Management program with the Young Alumni Award. In 2017, Hild received her master’s degree at Missouri State in Administrative Studies, with an emphasis in Sports Management.
 
A proud member of College Sports Communicators, (formerly CoSIDA) since 2015, Hild has actively served on the Career Services Committee (formerly Job Seekers) and was promoted to chair of the group in the fall of 2022 after serving two years as the vice chair before her tenure ended following the 2024-25 academic year. Additionally, Hild completed the organization’s inaugural Diversity & Inclusion Fellowship program in the spring of 2022, and she was presented with the CSC 30 Under 30 Award in November 2022. In June 2025, Hild was given the CSC President's Award for her service to the Career Services Committee.
 
Over the years, Hild has volunteered for several NCAA events, including the men's basketball first and second rounds, volleyball national championship, the 2023 NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four in Dallas, and most recently, the Tucson Softball Regional as a site representative on behalf of the NCAA.
 
Hild and her beloved German shepherd, Lambeau, reside in St. Louis County.
