Indiana State Leads After Day One of the 2025 MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

CARBONDALE – After day one of the 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Indiana State leads the competition for both the women and men in the team scores. The Sycamore women lead with 66.50 points on the women’s side followed by Northern Iowa in second at 31 points, with Illinois State and Missouri State tied in third with 29 points in the team rankings. For the men, Indiana State leads the pack with 64 points, followed by Illinois State with 44 points, and Northern Iowa in third with 37 points.

Starting the day on the track with the men’s 10,000m run Zack Loomis of Illinois State claimed the first MVC Champion Title of the 2025 MVC Outdoor Championships with a time of 30:32.37. Earning second for the Redbirds, Nick Doud earned the time of 30:38.76 followed by Caleb Lind of 30:47.23 to round out the top three. In the women’s 10,000m run Tyla Lumley of Drake claimed the MVC Champions Title with a best time of 35:52.37. In runner-up honors, Anastasia Kirillov of 36:06.58 stopped the clock at 36:06.58 followed by Brittney Burak of Indiana State’s 36:50.41 to round out the top three finishers.

In the field events, in the women’s discus throw Emma Yoder of Indiana State earned the MVC champion title with a mark of 48.38 meters. For runner-up honors Breanna Hackman of UNI marked 47.45 meters and Lara Smits of Drake took third with a mark of 47.03 meters. In the men’s discus throw Noah Bolt of Indiana State marked a MVC Champion distance of 54.11 meters for the Sycamores. For runner-up honors Wyatt Puff of Indiana State marked 51.95 meters followed by Adam Phillips of Drake in third with 51.59 meters.

The women’s pole vault champion title was earned by Brooklyn Giertz-Pfaff of Indiana State with a champions best height of 3.92 meters. For runner-up honors Windsor Roberts of Illinois State jumped a height of 3.92 meters, but earned second after faulting on her first attempt at 3.92 meters. Amy Luttrell of Indiana State followed in third with a height of 3.82 meters. The men’s pole vault champion title was earned by Bredan Safley of Northern Iowa’s best height of 5.38 meters. For runner-up honors, Will Staggs of Indiana State jumped a height of 5.28 meters followed by Lincoln Hulsey’s height of 4.98 meters to round out the top three.

The women’s long jump was won by Josey Dunbar of UNI’s jump of 6.09 meters. Earning second for the Salukis, Na’Kyrah Crooks with a best jump of 5.89 meters, followed by Justice Boston of Indiana State to set the top three finishers in the women’s Long Jump. The men’s long jump crowned the 2025 MVC Title to Darrione Williams of Southern Illinois with a best jump of 7.55 meters followed by Piere Hill of Indiana State in second place at 7.51 meters and Kilan Macklin of Indiana State in third place with a mark of 7.36 meters.

In the women’s javelin Reegan Reedy of Missouri State claimed the top spot for Missouri State with a mark of 45.22 meters. Lillian Gibbs of Indiana State for 44.27 meters and Kate Briscoe of Belmont claimed third with a mark of 42.90 meters. The men’s javelin Justice Miller of UNI claimed the top spot for Panthers with a mark of 64.57 meters. Sam Parker of Belmont for 64.50 meters and Brogan Davis of UNI claimed third with a mark of 59.13 meters.

The last final of Day 1 was the 3000m steeplechase where Grace Litzinger of Belmont claimed the women’s title with a time of 10:15.45. Emma Hoins of UNI earned second with a time of 10:20.08 followed by Ella Cronhardt of Missouri State with a time of 10:23.55. Ryan Handy of Indiana State claimed the title for the Sycamore men with a time of 8:51.38. Aziz Jdai of Drake took second with a time of 8:56.82 followed by Kevin Vanderkolk’s third place time of 8:58.56.

After five events, the Zack Butcher of Northern Iowa leads the decathlon with a score of 4040 followed by Jacob Ottersbach of Indiana State with 3725 points and Ryan Schaefer of Illinois State with 3673 points. In the women’s heptathlon, after four events, Joey Perry of Northern Iowa leads the field with 3199 points followed by Lindley Johnston of 3146 points and Kamdyn Moody of Missouri State with 2976 points.

Competition will resume tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. with the multievents, women’s high jump will begin at 10:30 a.m. to kick off the field events, and running event finals will begin with the men’s 4x100m relay at 1:15p.m., all in central tim
