PLAYER OF THE WEEK: LACY STOKES, MISSOURI STATE

Missouri State’s Lacy Stokes carried the Lady Bears to two overtime victories on the road at UNI and Drake. In the 75-72 win over UNI, Stokes went 6-of-9 (67%) from the floor, finishing with 21 points and seven assists. With 20 points against the Bulldogs, Stokes surpassed 2,000 career points, becoming the 34th active player in Division I this season to have 2,000-plus career points. Stokes added seven more assists, finishing with a league-high 14 dishes on the week. She added five steals and two blocks, and played 88:18 of a possible 90:00 minutes in the pair of overtime wins on the road. Stokes has logged six 20-plus point performances this season, including three straight.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: SOLEIL BARNES, BRADLEY

Bradley’s Soleil Barnes went off for the Braves in their win against in-state rival Illinois State on Sunday. Barnes tallied a career-high 30 points, including all of Bradley’s 11 points in the second quarter of that game. Aside from a career-high 30 points, Barnes reached career highs in made field goals (10), field goal attempts (24), made free throws (7) and free throws attempted (8). Barnes added seven points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal in a loss to Murray State. On the week, Barnes averaged 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.

For the fourth time this season, Missouri State’s Lainie Douglas has been named the MVC Freshman of the Week. Douglas led the Lady Bears across two overtime wins on the road at UNI and Drake in field goal percentage, shooting at a 53% clip in 17.0 minutes of action per game. In Missouri State’s 75-72 win over UNI, Douglas tallied eight points and five rebounds. Two days later, Douglas added 12 points and six rebounds against the Bulldogs. According to HerHoopStats, Douglas is one of seven freshmen in Division I shooting at least 56% from the field this season (min. 100 FGA).
