PLAYER OF THE WEEK: KATIE DINNEBIER, DRAKE

Drake’s Katie Dinnebier had a historic week as the Bulldogs earned a pair of road wins at Murray State and Belmont. The senior point guard averaged an impressive 31.5 points, 7.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 57% from the floor and 48% from 3-point range. Dinnebier opened her week with 21 points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals against the Racers. In Saturday’s win at Belmont, Dinnebier posted a career-high 42 points, including nine made threes, while dishing out eight assists. Her 42 points marked a Curb Event Center single-game record, men’s or women’s, and she became the second player in Division I to record two 40-plus point performances this season. Dinnebier is the only player in the country averaging at least 20.0 points and 7.0 assists per game, sitting at 20.8 points and 7.6 assists per outing.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: ELYCE KNUDSEN, ILLINOIS STATE

Illinois State’s Elyce Knudsen averaged 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game on 13-for-28 (46.4%) shooting from the floor and 6-for-12 from 3-point range in a pair of wins for the Redbirds. She reached double figures in both outings, leading Illinois State to victories over Indiana State and Evansville. Knudsen registered 19 points and six rebounds on Saturday against the Purple Aces, tallying the most points in a game by a Valley newcomer this week. Knudsen has reached double-figure scoring in nine Conference games this year, including three of her last four outings.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: LOGAN LUEBBERS PALMER, EVANSVILLE

Evansville’s Logan Luebbers Palmer had a career week for the Purple Aces in their win over Bradley and against Illinois State. She set a new career-high with a 17-point performance against the Redbirds to lead Evansville. It marked her first game as the scoring leader for the Purple Aces in 25 games this season. She also set a career-high in the Aces’ 10-point win over the Braves, making six field goals on eight attempts for 75% shooting from the floor. Over the week, she averaged 15.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 32 minutes of action.
