Player of the Week: Addison McElrath, UNI

UNI’s Addison McElrath finished the Panthers’ 2025 Doc Halverson Classic five-game weekend with four runs on eight hits in 14 plate appearances for a .571 average. The Moville, Iowa native recorded three home runs over the weekend and finished with seven RBIs including a two home run game in a 13-10 loss to Omaha Friday. McElrath was 4-for-9 (.444) with runners in scoring position and 2-for-3 (.667) with two outs.
Pitcher of the Week: Maya Johnson, Belmont

Belmont’s Maya Johnson recorded her first-career, and just the program’s second, perfect game. The pitcher tallied 13 strikeouts retiring 21 batters against Eastern Kentucky to secure the perfect performance. Overall, Johnson recorded 23 strikeouts while only allowing one hit and two walks for a 0.00 ERA on opening weekend. Johnson improves to 1-0 this season.
Freshman of the Week: Madison Vrastil, Valparaiso

Valparaiso’s Madison Vrastil started her collegiate career with a stellar opening weekend for Valpo at the DePaul Dome Tournament. Vrastil slashed .563/.588/.813 over the Beacons’ four games, going 9-for-16 at the plate with six runs scored, two doubles, a triple and three stolen bases. She led the MVC in hits on opening weekend, tied for the conference lead in runs and stolen bases, ranked third in batting average and fifth in OPS. Vrastil tallied at least one hit in all four games and posted three multi-hit games, highlighted by a pair of three-hit games against Butler and Detroit Mercy, while she scored three runs in the win over Green Bay.
Newcomer of the Week: Tatum Aragon, Drake
Jr. | Outfielder | Fort Collins, Colo.
Drake’s Tatum Aragon played in three out of four games at the Doc Halverson UNI-Dome Classic last weekend and was a top offensive performer for the Bulldogs. She hit at a clip of .375 (3-for-8) with a double, a run scored, and six RBI. Her six RBIs led Drake over the weekend and she also came through in the clutch delivering the game-winning sacrifice fly in Drake’s win over Loyola-Chicago. On the defensive side, Aragon recorded a perfect fielding percentage tallying four putouts and one assist from the outfield.
