PLAYER OF THE WEEK: KATIE DINNEBIER, DRAKE

Drake’s Katie Dinnebier has been tabbed the MVC Player of the Week after helping lift the Bulldogs past North Dakota last week. The senior guard notched 15 of her 16 points behind the arc, going 45.5% from the floor in the game and 62.5% from 3-point territory in just 28 minutes of action. Dinnebier matched her season high, registering 13 assists for a second-straight contest, falling one shy of matching her career high. Her 16-point, 13-assist outing marked the guard’s eighth-career double-double and second in as many games. She is one of five players in Division I to contribute 13-or-more assists in a game this season, and the only player to do it twice. Dinnebier currently leads the nation, Monday averaging 7.3 assists per game.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: SOLEIL BARNES, BRADLEY

For the second-straight week, Bradley’s Soleil Barnes has been named the MVC Newcomer of the Week. Despite a pair of setbacks, Barnes finished the week averaging 19.0 points per game, 12 rebounds, seven assists and four steals in a pair of outing against Big Ten foes. Barnes opened the week with a 12-point, five-rebound outing at No. 21 Illinois. She followed that performance with a career-high 26 points at Northwestern while also recording career highs in made field goals (9), rebounds (7) and minutes (37).
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: DONEELAH WASHINGTON, ILLINOIS STATE

Doneelah Washington tallied a season-high 14 points and four rebounds in just 13 minutes of action as Illinois State beat Chicago State on Sunday. She scored 12 of her 14 points in the first quarter and finished 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the floor in the win. Washington’s 14 points were the most among Valley freshmen this week in a single game. With the 14-point outing, Washington has now reached double figures four times in the last six games coming off the bench for the Redbirds.
