EVANSVILLE, IN - For the second-straight season, No. 3 seed Evansville advanced to the MVC Tournament semifinals with a 1-0 win over No. 6 seed SIUE.
After an even scoreless first half of action, Evansville finally broke through and scored a goal in the 74th minute of action when Jose Vivas netted his fourth goal of the season on an assist from Carlos Barcia.
Vivas got on the board for the fourth time this season with his late second half goal, giving the Spaniard his second game-winning goal of the season. For the eighth-time this year, graduate goalkeeper Alex Vidizzoni shutout his opponent, moving him into a tie for fourth in single-season shutouts.
Following the goal, Evansville locked-in defensively, preventing the Cougars from any opportunities as the Aces secured the win
The Aces held the advantage 18-8 shot advantage over SIUE, including a 15-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Evansville will face Belmont in the MVC Tournament semifinals at 3PM Thursday in Springfield, Missouri and will be televised on ESPN+.
