No. 1 LOYOLA 4, No. 5 DRAKE 1
CHICAGO, IL – Top-seeded Loyola keeps its unbeaten streak alive against MVC opposition as the Ramblers took down Drake, 4-1.
The Ramblers got on the board early as Amanda Cassidy took the feed from Katharine Stephens and buried it less than 4 minutes into the match.
Loyola doubled its lead about 15 minutes later as Megan Nemec powered one past the keeper from the edge of the box.
The final goal of the first half came courtesy of a corner kick that finished with Madeleine Barone tapping it in with about three and a half minutes left on the clock.
Freshman of the Year, Taylor Harrison got in on the action as her goal set a Rambler record for the most goals in an MVC tournament match at four.
However, All-MVC First Team member Libby Helverson ended Loyola’s clean sheet streak as she beat the keeper and made it a 4-1 match.
The No. 1 seed and three-time defending champions, Loyola, will face the Purple Aces Sunday, November 7, for the MVC title and the automatic berth into the NCAA tournament. This match is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT at Loyola Soccer Park.
