For the 26th time in 39 seasons, multiple MVC baseball teams have been selected as part of the field of 64 teams to play for the 2019 College World Series title.
2019 Missouri Valley Conference tournament champion Indiana State will be joined by at-large selections and co-regular season champions DBU and Illinois State in the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. Regional round matchups will be played from Friday, May 31 to Monday, June 3.
The Missouri Valley Conference is one of only seven leagues to have three or more teams selected for the NCAA Championship. The Valley joins the SEC (10), ACC (8), Big 12 (5), Big Ten (5), Pac 12 (5) and American (3) with three or more in the field.
This is the sixth time in eight years the MVC has placed multiple teams into the NCAA field and the eighth time in league history the MVC has sent three teams (1985, 1990, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2012, 2015, 2019).
Indiana State (41-16) earned the No. 2 seed in the Nashville Regional and will open play with a matchup against No. 3 seed McNeese (35-24) on Friday, May 31, at 12:00 PM (CT) on ESPN3. Host Vanderbilt (49-10) will face No. 4 seed Ohio State (35-25) in the other opening contest.
The Patriots (41-18) earned a No. 2 seed and will open against No. 3 seed Florida (33-24), in a first-round matchup on Friday, May 31, at 7:00 PM (CT) on ESPN3 in Lubbock, Texas. Other teams in the Texas Tech regional include top seed Texas Tech (39-17) and Army (35-24).
Illinois State (34-24) earned the No. 3 seed in the Louisville Regional and will open play with a matchup against No. 2 seed Indiana (36-21) on Friday, May 31, at 1:00 PM (CT) on ESPN3. Host Louisville (43-15) will face No. 4 seed UIC (29-21) in the other opening contest.
