Jack Anstey, Sr., Newtown Toowoomba, Australia, Illinois State
A 2019 First Team All-American in the 1,500-meter run, Jack Anstey returns to the track following a solid cross country season. Anstey opened his senior campaign with a victory in the 3,000-meter run at the GVSU Holiday Open, where he posted a personal-best time of 8:16.89. His time is not only the top time in the Valley and 28 seconds faster than the second ranked runner, Anstey also ranks fourth in the NCAA and is just over a second out of the third-place spot. Additionally, Anstey’s time moved him into ninth on the ISU Indoor Top-10 list.

Female Track
Tori Ortiz, So., Batavia, Illinois, Illinois State
Tori Ortiz opened her sophomore season with three first-place finishes at the EIU Early Bird. Ortiz won the 60-meter dash and the 400-meter dash individually and helped the 4x400-meter relay take home a win. A native of Batavia, Illinois, Ortiz recorded personal-best times in both the 60m and the 400m, clocking in at 7.65 seconds in the 60-meter prelims and 56.40 seconds in the 400m. Ortiz’s times rank her first in the Valley in the 400m and second in 60m. Additionally, the 4x400-meter relay she competed with is second in the MVC. She ranks 20th in the NCAA in the 400m and 55th in the NCAA in the 60m.

Clint Meyer, Sr., Yorba Linda, California, Southern Illinois
In his first competition with Southern Illinois, Clint Meyer opened his indoor season placing first in the shot put at the Saluki Fast Start. The transfer from California State University Northridge threw for a personal-best with a mark of 62’3.25’ (18.98m) for his first win of the year. His success at this weekend’s competition places him seventh in school history for this event. Meyer currently holds the number one spot in the MVC and is fifth on the NCAA leaderboard in the shot put.

Oyinlola Akinlosotu, Jr., Federal Way, Washington, Loyola
Loyola junior Oyinlola Akinlosotu took down a six-year-old school record in the triple jump as the Ramblers kicked off their 2019-20 indoor season at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich. on Friday. Akinsolutu notched a top leap of 40-08.25 (12.40m) to win the event and best former Rambler great Candice Carajohn’s previous top mark by nearly three inches. The Federal Way, Wash. native currently sits in eighth on the NCAA leaderboard in the triple jump.
