MVC Offensive Player of the Week
Jordyn Rolli, Jr., F, UNI (New Berlin, WI)
Notching her second goal of the season for the Panthers, Jordyn Rolli’s goal on Sunday against the Cyclones was the deciding factor in the Panthers win. Rolli has started in all the Panthers games this season, with two game-winning goals this season.
MVC Defensive Player of the Week
Megan McEachern, Jr., D, Illinois State (Batavia, Illinois)
McEachern was an integral part to Illinois State’s strong backline that allowed only one goal and lifted the Redbirds to two wins over Toledo and Omaha last week. She played a full 90 minutes in both games, proving to be a menace to opposing forwards and stifling her opponent’s momentum in key moments. McEachern also notched her first career goal in Sunday’s contest versus Omaha, rocketing a shot through traffic from distance to give the ‘Birds in an insurance goal in their 2-0 shutout of Omaha. She is the first Redbird defender to score this season.
MVC Newcomer of the Week
Sidney Ewing, Fr., MF, Indiana State (Liberty, Mo.)
Indiana State freshman Sidney Ewing earned five points for the Sycamores this weekend as Indiana State split against Chicago State and Western Michigan. Ewing got the scoring started against Chicago State when she made a steal in the Sycamore’s offensive half of the field, dribbled ahead to 25 yards out and blasted a shot past the Cougar goalkeeper for her second goal of the season. She then made a nifty assist of an Alina Steffen goal in the 20th minute as she dribbled the ball forward and into the penalty box on the left side of the field and made a cross pass which found Steffen in perfect position for the goal. Ewing was the benefactor of a Katie Wells pass from the middle of the field as she took the ball on the left side of the box and pushed it across the field and into the right corner of the net. Ewing finished the weekend with five shots, two goals and an assist.
