SIU's Giebelhausen Named Senior CLASS Award Candidate

Southern Illinois forward Kylie Giebelhausen was selected to a list of 30 candidates for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award, it was announced on Thursday.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as a senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

In the classroom, Giebelhausen maintains a 3.78 GPA. She's a two-time MVC Scholar Athlete Team recipient who was most recently accepted into Bradley University's Physical Therapy school.

A team captain, Giebelhausen consistently volunteers her time and was a recipient of the Missouri Valley Conference's Good Neighbor Award, given to one athlete from each school, each semester, who best exemplifies the ideals of the conference.

This season on the court, the 2017 All-MVC First Team selection became the 25th Saluki to reach the 1,000 career points plateau and currently leads SIU with a 12.5 points per game average.

Giebelhausen is the only basketball player from the Valley, male or female, to be selected as a candidate for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award.
