Illinois State claimed titles in six flights and were the big winners at the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Individual Tennis Championship in Evansville, Ind. The Redbirds swept the doubles draw and won singles championships at Nos. 4, 5 and seven. Wichita State took the top three singles flights and Southern Illinois rounded out the champions with a win at No. 6 singles.

Day One:
Day one of the State Farm MVC Women’s Tennis Individual Championship is complete, with Mother Nature forcing play indoors to the Tri-State Tennis Center in Evansville, Ind. The entire main singles and doubles and the first round of singles backdraw action were completed.

Illinois State advanced to the semifinals in each of the three double spots and in each of the seven singles flights. Drake placed semifinalists in each of the seven flights and Southern Illinois qualified for the semifinals in each of the six flights it had entries.

Play on day two, which includes the semifinal round of the singles and doubles draw, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Wesselman Tennis Center, weather permitting.
