Illinois State set a new tournament record with the most runs scored in a title game on Saturday at the 2012 State Farm MVC Softball Championship with their 13-3 win over Southern Illinois. This is the first title for the Redbirds since 2001. Lauren Canopy was the offesive spark, tieing a tournament record with seven RBI.
Illinois State will find out where it will be going for the NCAA Tournament Sunday evening at 9 p.m. CST, when the NCAA Tournament field is revealed on the NCAA Division I Softball Championship Selection Show that will be broadcast on ESPNU.

Southern Illinois to Host MVC Championship
Southern Illinois University will serve as host for the 2012 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Softball Championship for the fourth time in school history, from May 10-12. The 2012 event will be played at Charlotte West Stadium in Carbondale, Ill.
Completed in 2003, this will be the third MVC Tournament that will be played in Charlotte West Stadium. The state-of-the-art facility hosted the 2004 & 2008 conference championships and served host to the 2007 NCAA Regionals.
Same Old, Same Old
In 2012, the State Farm MVC Softball Championship is sticking with the double-bye, single-elimination format that was played during the 2008-2009 and 2011 Championships.

Fans can follow the State Farm MVC Softball Championship on Valley Live, the conference's video streaming program. Valley Live is a partnership between the Missouri Valley Conference and WebStream Productions - the creators of the highly-acclaimed Horizon League Network. Live game action from a television-like production including multiple cameras, graphics and professional announcers will be available for all games leading into the televised final. The championship game will be televised live on FOX Sports Midwest with R.C. Mc Bride and Laura Leonard, who will be calling the action for all tournament games.
