ST. LOUIS -- Missouri Valley Conference Sports Properties (MVCSP) and St. Louis-based all-sports radio station WXOS-FM (101.1) have entered into a new three-year agreement, where WXOS will have exclusive rights to broadcast men’s basketball games of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in St. Louis through the 2012-13 season, MVCSP general manager Branden Miller has announced.
This year’s tournament will be held March 3-6 at Scottrade Center.
“Learfield Sports and MVC Sports Properties are excited about the partnership between the MVC and WXOS-FM,” says Miller. “The State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament has a storied tradition and the prestige of the tournament will continue to grow with our new broadcast on ESPN – 101.1, a proven leader in the sports broadcasting industry .”
In addition to carrying games from the State Farm MVC Tournament, WXOS will also air a daily program, beginning two weeks prior to each season’s tournament. The show will feature scores and highlights from games in the league. In 2009, WXOS won the radio rights to the St. Louis Rams, and it also acquired the rights to Saint Louis University basketball. WXOS also airs the Bowl Championship Series, the World Series, the NBA Finals, and other events from ESPN Radio.
“We are excited to bring Arch Madness and the MVC tournament to our airwaves,” says John Kijowski, Vice President and Market Manager of the Bonneville St. Louis Radio Group. “The fans will love hearing in clear FM Stereo what has become one of the best tournaments in college basketball. We are proud of our new association with the MVC.”
