For the first time since 1990, the University of Northern Iowa is going to the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers won the 2004 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Tournament after a double-overtime victory over Southwest Missouri State, 79-74, at the Savvis Center in St. Louis, on Monday, March 8.
Ben Jacobson was named tournament MVP after scoring 26 points against the Bears. With the win, the No. 2 seeded UNI Panthers earned the NCAA automatic bid.
