A native of St. Louis, Mo., and a product of Jennings High, Bob Kurland led the nation in scoring in back-to-back years (1945 and 46) and finished his career as the Cowboys’ all-time leading scorer with 1,669 points.

He holds the OSU school record for points in a game with 58 versus St. Louis in 1946. A member of U.S. Olympic gold-medal winning basketball teams in 1948 and 1952, he played for the famous Phillips 66ers for six seasons and was a member of three AAU national champions.

For his efforts, he was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the Helms Foundation Hall of Fame, the state of Missouri Athletic Hall of Fame and the state of Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
