Co-Swimmers of the Week
Sierra Forbord, Sr., Olympia, Wash. (Southern Illinois)
While reaching second place as a member of the 400-free relay squad and individually in the 50-freestyle against Valparaiso and Little Rock last week, Forbord earned a first-place finish for the Salukis in the 100-freestyle (50.47). The reigning MVC Elite 17 award recipient completed a lifetime best in the 200-freestyle (1:48.96), improving by over 1.22 seconds and racking up points for the SIU's win on Friday.
Grom, Annya, So., Eilat, Israel (Little Rock)
Grom broke two school records this past weekend at the Little Rock-SIU-Valparaiso tri-meet, winning the 50 freestyle with a record-shattering time of 23.29 and finishing second in the 100 freestyle with a new Trojan record of 50.60. The previous records were 23.38 in the 50 and 50.72 in the 100, both set at the Missouri Valley Championships in 2019. Grom also anchored the winning 400 freestyle relay with a quick split of 50.14 to beat out SIU by just over two tenths of a second.
Both of Grom's individual swims were personal best times. Her 50 free time ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference while her 100 free time ranks third. In addition, she helped the Little Rock 400 freestyle relay move up three spots to sit third in the conference.
*MVC Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week are selected each week during the season. Nominees are provided by each school’s sports information contact and voted on by a panel appointed by the league office.
