TRACK & FIELD WEEKLY HONORS (FEB. 10)

Male Track Athlete of the Week - 
 
JaVaughn Moore, So., Indiana State (Marietta, Georgia)
JaVaughn Moore led a group of Indiana State sprinters that had a stellar Saturday at Grand Valley State. Moore started his day with a dominant victory in the 60-meter dash, clocking the Valley leading time of 6.76 which is 42nd in the nation. He then picked-up the sweep in the short sprints for ISU, winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.72. His time of 21.50 from the Sycamore Team Challenge is still third in the Valley.

Female Track Athlete of the Week - 

Anneka Murrin, Jr., Loyola (Yarmouth, Maine)
Junior Anneka Murrin turned in a dominant performance en route to victory as Loyola raised the curtain on its 2021 spring cross country season at the Lipscomb Winter Classic in Nashville, Tenn. on Saturday.  The Yarmouth, Maine native took home individual medalist honors in the women's 5k race, crossing in 17:11.2 as she outdistanced her next closest competitor by over 13 seconds.  Led by Murrin, the reigning MVC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, Loyola earned a runner-up finish in the team race tieing with Valley rival Bradley, and winning against Illinois State.

Male Field Athlete of the Week - 

Logan Calvin, R-Jr., Illinois State (Bloomington, Indiana)
After posting big marks at the first meet of the year, Logan Calvin improved on those marks even further at the SIU Don DeNoon Dual where he won both the weight throw and the shot put. In the weight throw, Calvin had a personal-best throw of 20.83 meters (68-4.25 ft.) which marked the first time in his career he threw above 20 meters. That throw is currently the No. 1 mark in the MVC, No. 3 all-time in Illinois State track & field history and No. 21 in the NCAA. In the shot put, Calvin recorded a personal-best throw of 18.51 meters (60-8.75 ft.), which ranks him No. 2 in the Valley, improves his No. 2 mark in school history and is No. 25 in the NCAA.

Female Field Athlete of the Week - 

Kameesha Smith, Sr., Illinois State (South Holland, Illinois) 
Kameesha Smith opened her senior campaign with a huge personal-best mark, clearing 1.80 meters (5-10.75 ft.) to win the high jump at the Don DeNoon Dual. Smith’s mark is currently No. 1 in the Valley, No. 2 all-time in school history and tied for No. 9 in the NCAA.
